Playthings, found in June 2015 by Jason Brubaker, is a family of storytellers that express the relationships of the LGBTQ+ community. Playthings is devoted to bringing contemporary and classic pieces of the LGBTQ+ and Allies to the New York stage. We continue the discussion of inclusion, equality and love.
“It’s easy for NY theatre goers to assume they are learning about the LGBT story by simply going to Broadway, in some cases this is true. However, the community has many more stories of conflict, love and the ongoing search for equality and that’s what Playthings seeks to bring to the NY stage.”
Jason Brubaker (Artistic Director) has proudly worked for the award winning Irish Repertory Theatre for almost a decade now under the guidance of Charlotte Moore. He has also worked for The York Theatre, Second Stage Theatre, New York City Dance Alliance, On Stage New York and many other Broadway and Off Broadway houses.
Jorge Donoso (pronouns: he, him, his) is An NYC based performer and educator whose work can be seen on and off stage. Jorge has worked at Playmakers Repertory Company, Alliance Theatre, The Drama League, Columbia Stages, and The Playthings Theatre and has recently joined Broad Views on Broadway as a board member. He's been working with LGBTQIA organizations for 6 years including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDs and North Carolina AIDs Action Network. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
